OCTOBER RENDEZVOUS

Our October meeting was half business, half art. We made some progress towards the 2011 Chiniak Art Show, discussing things that worked/didn't work in 2010. Some of the main ideas were:
1. PERHAPS a break from Talking Trash for a year for evaluation
2. less advertising for 2011 (no Hotline)
3. a more streamlined process for accepting art
After business was concluded members stayed to participate in leaf printing, which was fun and productive as well.
!HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

AUG 28

Last weekend's gathering was productive- we got a lot more done on the signs and the kids started on artwork for Talking Trash.
It will be the last weekend before the big show, so next saturday we will be prepping the building for hanging art, the yard for installing the sculpture garden, finishing the signs if need be, and having an impromptu spray paint/collage demo.
The Kodiak Arts Council gave us a nice reference on Talk of the Rock this morning, and it looks like we'll have lots of art and visitors again this year.
NEXT RENDEZVOUS: AUGUST 28 AT THE CHINIAK POST OFFICE 2-4PM.

July Rendezvous: Prepping for the Big Show
Last Saturday's rendezvous was very productive, with everyone agreeing to help distribute lunch bag ads in town, working with Sue on the big signs, and cleaning up/weed whacking/leveling the ground for the sculpture garden. The only complaint is we had no cookies, so anyone is welcome to bring some to the next meeting!
The plastic cap photos were taken by Julie Rodger, when she and her family washed all the bottle caps people collected for use in the signs.

Thank you Sue for the glorious hodgepodge of supplies from twigs to ribbon to beads to baskets!
