Chiniak Archival Photography Show 2010
In accordance with a long term goal of long time library volunteer Susan Baker, Chiniak Art Works is working on cataloging photos from Chiniak residents. To help this goal and involve the community in the outcome, we hosted a photography show in April 2010 at the Chiniak Post Office, which featured over 40 historical photos. The goal of Chiniak Art Works
The goal of forming Chiniak Art Works is to have a local non profit which supports artists in the community.
Meetings will be held once a month. Meetings will focus on promoting and sustaining local arts. All are welcome.
Some ideas include:
*donate art to local causes
*use funds raised to purchase supplies for selected artist
*use funds raised to support specific local art project
*sponsor monthly shows, both solo & group
*teach classes
*create online database of Chiniak artists
*historically document Chiniak arts and artists
*preserve artwork for future generations
